Tell me about your name

My name is Nana Adu-Kofi. Most people call me Nana and a few refer to me by my nickname, AduKofs. Pronounced Ay.doo.koh.fs.

Interesting. Where's your name from? The only Nanas I know are Grandmothers.

Nana is a Ghanaian name. It's a common unisex name among the Akan tribe in Ghana. It means Chief, King or Queen.

What's your educational / work background?

I graduated from Connecticut College with a B.A. in Architectural Studies and Art. Work wise, I have experience in commercial real estate project management as well as creative project management.

Do you get time to improve/work on your art?

Absoluetly! I always find ways to do some art. Whether it's painting, some photography, video editing or illustrations. I always make sure to exercise that creative part of me.

What kind of artist are you?

I'm first and foremost a painter. I love to paint! Something that comes naturally to me plus I have a good number of years of formal training from a very young age. I like to experiment with different colors and painting techniques. I use that to do expressive and interpretive artworks. I make sure there's a reason for every stroke. I also love video editing and digital art.

Do you think your project management skills might come in handy with your art in the future?

No doubt. In project management, you learn how to communicate effectively with clients, vendors and co-workers. You learn many useful skills and wear many hats from; cost management to time management to leadership etc. I think all that will come in handy in an artistic occupation and of course as an entrepreneur.

I see a lot of basketball players on your page. Any reason for that?

I love watching basketball so I thought instead of just watching it, why not do some art with it. I love how every player and team have their own world that can be explored and experienced on and off the court. There are so many creatives online expressing sports in a different way. I'm on a basketball theme until I can paint 30 players from each of the 30 teams.

Do you take commissions? I'd love a painting.
